A Paw-some Dog Photoshoot with Louis-Pascal the Ruby Red Cavalier
At ME Pet Photography, we love capturing the unique personalities of every pet we meet – and Louis-Pascal, a two-year-old Ruby Red King Charles Cavalier, was no exception. His owner, Therese, reached out to us looking for professional dog photography to preserve some special memories of her handsome boy.
Like many pet parents, Therese wasn’t completely sure what colour backdrop would best highlight Louis-Pascal’s stunning ruby coat. She initially requested a black backdrop, which we happily prepared – but I also suggested trying yellow, as I knew it would bring out the warmth and richness of his fur beautifully. It turned out to be a paw-some idea! 🐾
Setting the Scene
When we arrived at Therese’s home, we set up our portable studio in the garage. Louis-Pascal strutted onto the black backdrop like a natural model. With Therese’s help – she kept him relaxed and engaged by playing with him – we captured a series of beautiful portraits. One of the highlights was Louis-Pascal rolling onto his back, paws in the air, showing off his playful and cheeky side.
Keeping It Comfortable
Because we always prioritise animal welfare, we kept a close eye on the temperature. When the garage started to warm up, we gave Louis-Pascal a well-deserved break and moved inside where it was cooler. This is one of the reasons people love booking with us – we’re not just photographers, we’re pet people first, and your fur-baby’s comfort always comes before the camera.
Switching to Yellow
Inside, we switched to the vibrant yellow backdrop I had suggested. As soon as Louis-Pascal sat down, the contrast was striking – the yellow really made his coat glow and brought an extra warmth and vibrance to the photos.
Therese had also brought along some of Louis-Pascal’s favourite toys, including “Papa Smurf” and Lady Caroline. These toys helped keep him relaxed and happy, and they gave us the chance to capture natural, playful moments that really showed off his personality.
The Peanut Butter Magic
No pet photoshoot with ME Pet Photography is complete without our famous “peanut butter” shots. With a little dab of peanut butter, Louis-Pascal pulled the funniest faces – from cheeky tongue flicks to wide-eyed expressions that had us all laughing. These kinds of photos are always client favourites because they’re so real, quirky, and utterly adorable.
The Final Results
The final gallery of images included a mix of elegant portraits, playful action shots, and those goofy, joy-filled peanut butter expressions. Therese was thrilled with the results, and Louis-Pascal proved to be an absolute star in front of the lens.
